1000 kites to fly high for Hanoi
Thursday, May 27, 2010 (GMT+7)
One thousand kites will go from Hue to Hanoi this October to celebrate the capital city’s millennial anniversary.

The kite procession will be arranged as a street marching, combined with an ao dai performance on June 13. The procession will travel over 300km from Hue to Hanoi. Performers will call on Sen village, President Ho Chi Minh’s hometown in Nghe An province, and the ancient capital of Hoa Lu in Ninh Binh province.
The final destination of the procession will be Hanoi’s Long Bien bridge.
This is a special gift from Hue Art University students and Thua Thien-Hue kite club. Students have made 700 kites of all shapes, while the kite club made the remaining 300 kites.
The ao dai (traditional long gown) used in the procession will be made by silk and dyed with natural colours to demonstrate environmental friendliness.
