Vu Kim Thu’s “Rangoli and the Fragmentation of Space" exhibition opened at Bui Gallery, 23 Ngo Van So, Hanoi on May 7, introducing her two latest Rangoli artworks.

Vu Kim Thu and "The Fragmentation of Space".
Rangoli is one of the most popular art forms in India. It is a form of sand-painting decoration that uses finely ground white and coloured powders, and is commonly done outside homes in India. The term Rangoli is derived from the words rang (colour) and aavalli (’coloured creepers’ or ’row of colours’).
The name of the exhibition “Rangoli and the Fragmentation of Space” is combined by the names of the two artworks showcased at this exhibition, “Rangoli” and “Fragmentation of Space”.

“Rangoli” was made by giay do (do paper – Vietnamese traditional paper), mica, cardboard and sponge. The “Fragmentation of Space” was made in India and South Korea.
Kim Thu commented that “Humans are the products of their living environment.” The two works are the result of the spaces where she lived, from South Korea to India and Vietnam.
The exhibition will open until the end of May.
