Hanoi’s lotus season in full bloom
Thursday, June 24, 2010 (GMT+7)
Every summer tea-scenting workers get to work as the lotuses blossom brilliantly in Hanoi’s West Lake, making the area more romantic for the flocks of young girls who come to take photos.

The light pink colour of the lotuses stands out from the green foundation of leaves.

Lotus pluckers have to start their job in the early morning to be able to pluck newly-blossomed flowers.

This is a job for men because they have to row around the spacious lake.

Tea-scenting workers also work very early. They collects stamen to mix with tea. Lotus tea is a Hanoi specialty.

Lotuses are transported around the city by flower vendors
